From Physical Statue to 3D Printed Replica

We transformed an existing physical statue into a detailed digital 3D model and recreated it as a 3D printed replica using a complete 3D scanning and 3D printing workflow.

Project Overview

The project started with a physical statue that needed to be digitally captured and reproduced. Since there was no original 3D model available, 3D scanning was used to capture the object's shape, proportions, contours, and intricate details.

1. Original Physical Statue

We first received and inspected the original statue. The object was carefully examined to understand its overall form and detailed features before beginning the scanning process.

2. 3D Scanning

The statue was carefully 3D scanned to capture its complete three-dimensional geometry. The scanning process digitally captured the curves, contours, proportions, and intricate details of the original object.

3. Digital 3D Model

The captured scan data was processed to create a digital 3D model of the statue. This digital version provides a reusable representation of the original object that can be stored, modified, scaled, and prepared for future 3D printing.

4. 3D Printing

Once the digital model was prepared, it was used for 3D printing. The digital geometry was converted back into a physical object using additive manufacturing, creating a 3D printed replica of the original statue.

5. Final Result: Original vs 3D Printed Replica

The final 3D printed replica was placed alongside the original physical statue for comparison. This demonstrates the complete physical-to-digital-to-physical workflow, from capturing the original object through 3D scanning to recreating it through 3D printing.
